Licence, disclaimer and legal notices

End User Licence Agreement (EULA) · free beta with activation key · Last updated: 6 November 2026

By installing or using GearLibrary (the “Application”) on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows or in the browser, you declare that you have read, understood and accepted the following terms, including the limited duration, the disclaimer of warranty and the limitations of liability. If you do not accept them, do not use the Application. This is a courtesy translation of the Italian text; in case of any discrepancy, the Italian version prevails.

1. Nature of the software and duration

The Application is a trial beta version, licensed for personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable use, entirely free of charge. It is not a commercial product and comes with no guaranteed support.

In the computer versions (Mac and Windows) the Application is activated with a free personal key, requested on the website https://medialibrary.dev by entering your email address:

  • the key is bound to the email address it was requested with, is personal and may not be transferred or shared;
  • it is valid for 90 (ninety) days from its issue date, stated in the email together with the expiry date;
  • when it expires you can request a new one on the same website, up to 2 renewals (3 keys in all); beyond that, the author may grant unlimited renewals on request;
  • without a key the Application can be used for 14 days from first launch; with an expired key it works in read-only mode for 30 days and allows backups, after which it only allows you to save a backup of your data; the Application warns you in the last 15 days of the key’s validity;
  • on iPhone and iPad, distributed through TestFlight, no key is needed and the expiry is set by Apple (normally 90 days from each build).

When the key expires your data is not deleted: it stays on the device and can always be exported with a backup. The author may stop issuing new keys or distributing new versions at any time.

2. Contribution of artificial intelligence

The source code, architecture, structure and part of the content of the Application were also developed with the help of generative artificial intelligence systems. These parts were supervised, reviewed and validated by the author, who remains solely responsible for releasing, publishing and distributing the Application under the terms described here.

Some functions of the Application (recognition from photos, reading manuals and schematics, parts lists, document searches, comments on measurements, questions about components) use, on request, a third-party artificial intelligence service (Google Gemini). AI answers may be incomplete, inaccurate or entirely wrong, even when they look confident: always check them against the original sources (manufacturer manuals, schematics, measurements) before relying on them.

3. Disclaimer of warranty (“as is”)

The Application is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including, by way of example, those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of results and non-infringement. The author does not guarantee that the Application is free of errors, defects or interruptions, that it meets the user’s expectations, or that saved data will not be lost: making regular backups is the user’s responsibility.

4. Measurements, alignments and connected instruments

The measurement functions (analyzer, oscilloscope, multimeter, turntable measurement bench, reel-to-reel recorder alignment, room acoustics, tube testing) are support tools for hobby use. They are not certified or calibrated measuring instruments and do not replace professional equipment or the judgement of a qualified technician.

  • The Application’s signal generator can output tones, noise and sweeps at high levels: connect it only after checking its level, at low volume, and never directly to speakers, headphones or cartridges without due precautions. Excessive levels can damage equipment, speakers, cartridges and hearing.
  • Tube equipment, power supplies and much vintage equipment contain dangerous voltages, even when unplugged. Work, adjustments and measurements inside equipment must be carried out only by competent people, with the necessary safety precautions.
  • Alignment values suggested by the Application or read by the AI from manuals are indicative: before any adjustment, check them against the manufacturer’s original documentation.
  • With network-connected instruments (multimeters, oscilloscopes, generators, analyzers) the Application sends standard commands: the user is responsible for configuring and using their own instruments correctly.

5. Limitation of liability and improper use

Use of the Application is at the user’s sole risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the author is not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages (including, by way of example, loss of data, errors of calculation or assessment, damage to equipment, instruments, property or persons, financial losses in sales and purchases) arising from:

  • use of the Application not in accordance with its instructions, technical specifications or intended purposes;
  • unauthorised modifications, tampering or additions made by the user or by third parties to the Application or to the data it processes;
  • reliance on the correctness, completeness or reliability of the results of the Application or of the AI, particularly in professional, financial (valuations, prices, sales and purchases) or decision-making contexts, without adequate independent human verification;
  • the operation, availability or terms of the third-party services listed in section 7.

Liabilities that by law cannot be excluded or limited remain unaffected, in particular those for wilful misconduct or gross negligence (art. 1229 of the Italian Civil Code) and the mandatory rights granted to consumers.

6. Indemnity

The user agrees to hold the author harmless from any claim, demand for compensation, action or cost (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties and arising from improper, unlawful or non-compliant use of the Application by the user, including content the user uploads, shares or publishes through it.

7. Third-party services

Some optional functions, enabled by the user, rely on third-party services: Google Gemini (artificial intelligence, with the user’s personal key), Google Drive (synchronisation, with the user’s account), eBay (offer search, with the user’s developer credentials), MusicBrainz, Internet Archive and other public archives, listing sites and shops opened in the browser. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which the user accepts directly with the providers; the author is not responsible for them and is not affiliated with them.

Requesting the key on the website uses Cloudflare (hosting, Turnstile bot check) and Resend (sending the email), as described in the website privacy policy.

8. User content

Photos, documents, manuals, schematics, notes and other content uploaded to the Application remain the user’s, who declares that they have the right to use them. Third-party manuals, schematics and publications are often protected by copyright: the user is responsible for how they obtain, keep and share them.

9. Intellectual property and restrictions on use

All intellectual property rights in the Application remain with the author. Without the author’s written permission, and except as allowed by mandatory law, decompiling, reverse engineering, modifying, translating, reselling and commercially redistributing the Application are prohibited.

Trademarks, product and company names mentioned in the Application (for example manufacturers of equipment, instruments and services) belong to their respective owners and are used for descriptive purposes only, without any affiliation or endorsement.

10. Changes, governing law and contact

The author may update these terms: the version in force can always be read in the Application (Settings → Legal notices) and on the website https://medialibrary.dev and, in case of substantial changes, the Application asks you to accept it again. These terms are governed by Italian law; for consumers, the courts of their place of residence or domicile remain competent.
